Question: How can I protect my business or organization’s social media accounts from being hacked?

Answer: There are several security measures you can take, depending on which social media platforms you are using. However, one easy and effective option is to turn on two-factor authentication, which means that there is an additional method of authentication required besides your password to access your account. This is often sent as a text message to your phone with a specific code, which prevents anyone who might have your password but not access to your phone from logging in.

Two-factor authentication can often be enabled in the settings of the social media platform that you’re using. In addition to enabling it, it’s also always a good idea to keep track of what your passwords are and who has access to them–if an employee or volunteer has access but then leaves your business or organization, you’ll want to change the passwords they had access to.
