Question: I find myself either spending so much time on social media that it feels unproductive or getting too busy to spend any time at all on social media. Is there a good timeframe I should aim for in working with social media to advertise my business or organization?
Answer: The key is to start small and scale from there. If you find yourself going weeks without checking your social media accounts, try spending 5 minutes a day just keeping up with what’s going on. The next week, maybe aim for 10 minutes a day. Depending on your work and how much of a role social media plays in it, it’s a good idea to cap your social media usage at 1-3 hours per day if possible. You’ll likely find that you can get a lot, if not all, of your work done within that time frame, and it should keep you from wasting time on social media that could be better spent elsewhere.
