So you started a blog–congrats! A blog is a great way to keep your website updated and to reach your customers in a different way. There’s just one problem: what do you write about?
Here are some of our favorite ideas to get your creative juices flowing!
Write About Your Products/Services
This might seem obvious–after all, a blog centered around your business should clearly feature the business itself. However, there’s a lot you can do with a blog as a medium that largely features long-form content, meaning you have more space than you would with a Facebook post or Instagram Story. Try your hand at writing blog posts featuring just one of your products or services, and really go in-depth on it–use photos, stories and reviews from customers, and link to videos to give your readers an overall idea of what each product or service can do for them.
Write About Your Values
A blog is a great place to expand upon the story behind your business and what drives it. How did you become inspired to be a business owner? How do your values weave their way into your products and services? Are there non-profits or organizations that your business supports through its proceeds? These are all great things to talk about in blog posts, as they present the human side to your business.
Write About Your Industry
As you look to other businesses and their blogs for examples, you’ll probably see that most business blogs talk about more than just the business. Writing about industry trends or current events can be a great way to share your commentary on what’s going on in the world, and it’s also a great way to establish your credibility. As your audience reads your thoughts and advice on your industry, they can see for themselves how far your expertise stretches, which may incline them to purchase from or utilize your business in the future. (Plus, these blog posts can be shared on social media, which is a win-win for upping your blog’s audience and expanding your social media strategy!)
Write About Your Employees & Events
Whether you’re hosting a special event or want to honor an employee of the month, a blog post can be a great way to do it! Not only do you have plenty of room to share pictures of your event or stories of your employee, but your blog can then serve as a portfolio on your website of what your business has done. Future customers and potential employees will be able to look at these kinds of posts to get a taste of what your business can offer them.
