Ask a Social Media Manager: Should I Crosspost?

Question: Can I crosspost content across social media platforms (for example, sharing the same content on Instagram and Facebook)?

Answer: You can, and sometimes it can be helpful–crossposting means creating less content overall, and it’s also an easy way to emphasize a post. (For example, if you want to more heavily promote an event or sale, posting about it on every social media platform possible makes sense.) However, it’s important to consider that people might follow you on multiple platforms, so they might want to see different content when they log into a different platform.

If you don’t want to crosspost 100% of your content but you don’t have the time to create new posts for multiple platforms, consider switching up the way you present information in your posts. For example, try creating different graphics to post on Instagram vs. Facebook, or change how you word things or the hashtags you use from platform to platform.
