Running a page for your business on Facebook isn’t always easy–there are lots of features and settings that Facebook offers that might seem confusing at first. But the more you know, the simpler everything gets, and that’s where we come in!
Here are some of our tips and tricks for effectively managing your Facebook business page.
Choose a back-up admin.
If you’re the only admin for your page, then you’re the only person who has creative and administrative control over it. This can be great when ensuring a secure page, but it can also leave your page vulnerable in other ways–what if you forget your password? What if your Facebook account is deleted?
Having someone else as an admin for your page can serve as a back-up. That way, even if you can no longer access the page, someone else can, and you won’t loose a potential key platform for your business. The main thing is to choose someone you trust as a back-up admin. They don’t have to be directly involved in your business, but they should be a friend or colleague who you communicate regularly with and who is social-media savvy, so they can help reconnect you to your page as needed.
To assign a new admin, go to your page settings.
Utilize pinned posts.
One great feature of pages is that you can pin a specific post to the top of your page, making it one of the first things people see when they visit your page. If you have a post with very important information about your business, pinning that post can be a great way to help viewers to see that information. Just click the three dots in the upper right corner of your post, and then select Pin To Top Of Page.
One thing to remember: update your pinned posts regularly! It does your business no good to have the first thing viewers see be an out-of-date pinned post.
Schedule regular checks to make sure all your information is accurate.
On the topic of out-of-date information, schedule regular check-ins on your calendar to remind you to quickly review your page’s About section, and ensure in general that your business’ information is up-to-date. For example, it’s all too easy to make a post announcing your recent change in hours of operation, but not update that information in your page’s About section. If the information on your Facebook page isn’t accurate, it could cause confusion among customers, or, even worse, cause you to loose customers altogether. Prevent that by checking in regularly (in most cases, updating your information won’t take long at all!)
