Ideally, if you run a small business or organization, you will already have a Facebook page set up. However, keeping your Facebook page up-to-date can be another challenge. You want your followers to stay engaged with your page, but how can you consistently create posts that they’ll want to see?
At Wreath Writing and Marketing Services, we have your back! Read on to find out more about creating strong posts for Facebook.
Keep things relevant.
A good chunk of your posts to your business’ or organization’s Facebook page should be relevant and timely. For example, if there is an event that your organization is putting on, a sale happening for your business, or an unexpected closure or cancellation due to the weather, your customers will want to know. These things should be shared on your Facebook page, but be sure to do so as creatively as possible.
Obviously, if there’s an emergency cancellation, you might not have time to craft a graphic or a creatively-worded post, and you might just have to throw an update on Facebook and move on. That is acceptable in some circumstances, but if there’s an event that you’ve been planning for weeks or a sale that you want to use to draw in new customers, try and spice up your posts a little. Create a Facebook event that others can share, or make an eye-catching graphic to show off your special sale. Making your posts stand out is all about the details, which we will address below.
Add something extra.
When and if you have the time, try to always have something else to go with your Facebook post, so that you aren’t just posting a block of text. Use a picture or video to illustrate your point, or provide a link to your website or blog for readers to get more information. This fleshes out your post and gives your readers something easy to look at.
Facebook also offers different features to add to your posts, including polls, fundraisers, and physical check-ins. Used periodically and for the appropriate events, these features can boost your readers’ engagement with your posts and make your page seem more interesting. One incredibly easy feature is Backgrounds, which adds an image, color, or pattern to the background of your text. This feature works best for posts that just display text, but it can be a simple way to spice up a quick update! Just make sure that you are choosing relevant images or patterns and not overusing this feature.
Engagement.
As pretty as a post may be, it won’t help your business or organization if no one sees it. A truly successful post is one that gains some traction or gets results. Try sharing your business’ post on your personal Facebook timeline, or share the post with different Facebook groups. You can also pay to boost your post, which can get it more exposure, but it will also cost you.
Additionally, make sure you respond to any comments that are made on your post. With so much always happening on Facebook, it can be easy to overlook notifications about readers interacting with your posts. However, try your best to ensure that questions get answered as quickly as possible, and that reviews and feedback, both positive and negative, are responded to appropriately.
Facebook, like any social media platform, can be a lot to keep up with. But with some time invested into visual content and a little research, your posts can stay relevant, eye-catching, and engaging.
