The social media accounts for your business or organization should be viewed as an extension of your business, which means that when followers leave a comment or message on your Facebook page or Instagram account, they often expect a response. When you leave comments or messages unresponded to, you’re missing an opportunity to connect with your followers, which can sometimes mean missing out on a sale.

For this action item, review the social media accounts for your business or organization and see if there are any comments or messages that you haven’t responded to. (Tip: On Instagram, messages can sometimes hide under “Requests” in the top right corner of your Messages inbox.) If you can, respond to as many as possible – a comment like “This looks great!” could get a simple “Thank you!” in response, while a longer review or complaint might take some time. Try to make responding to comments and messages a habit when you check social media, so they don’t pile up on you.
